BEYC Bio:

The Bald Eagle Yacht Club (BEYC) is a family oriented sailing and social club which has races and social events weekly throughout the summer on Bald Eagle Lake. Started 108 years ago in 1899 the BEYC goals were to have a club that focused on fun, socials and sailing too. Today we still have those goals. The sailboats currently raced are catamarans, scows and Lasers. The club is open to people interested in sailing.

There are associate social memberships ($25) and racing memberships ($75) available.  Kids to teens to miders to any-agers, are racing on Bald Eagle each week. Sailing is a great sport for all ages and ability levels. We encourage you to check out the Bald Eagle Yacht Club’s sailing opportunities.

With no clubhouse or real estate the members concentrate on sailing and fun rather than maintenance and dues.

Sailing Times:

Throughout the summer, Laser races are held each Wednesday evening at 6:30 to 7:30 pm with 2 to 3 short course races around the buoys. That same evening following the race is an informal social gathering at a member’s home around the lake. Most Saturdays have a race at 10 am. Sundays have a race scheduled for 1pm. The catamaran fleet has class racing for Hobie 16, 18 and 20.  The C and E-scow fleets also class race on selected weekends. In addition to class racing, an overall “Portsmouth” handicapping scoring is done for those boat classes with less than three.

Social:

In addition to the weekly Wednesday event other highlights are the Fathers Day Pancake Breakfast, The Memorial Day BBQ, the Labor Day Picnic and awards Banquet. The BEYC members welcome you to come have fun, socialize and experience sailboat racing for all interested. Join today and get a summer social and sailing schedule calendar with all the details.
